Luke’s Guide to Lake City!

Lake City is underrated, and really not that far out of the way. Just North of Seattle you’ll find olives in bulk, secret beaches, a beaver pond, and incredible food! Mix up your next ride with some pointers from Free Range Mechanic, Luke.

-Start your trip to Lake City off right by zooming down Ravenna Ave north from 95th parallel to Lake City Way. Once you get to Nathan Hale High School at 110th, turn right and ride across 35th. Here you’ll find yourself near the entrance to Meadowbrook Pond. If you’re lucky you might see a beaver!

-Once your eyes have drunk their fill of the pond, it’s time to hit downtown Lake City! Take 35th Ave North until you reach 125th. If it’s early in the day, then stop at Kaffeeklatsch for a pastry and a coffee. For those more adventurous, find a street parallel to Lake City Way and ride to Man’oushe Express. Be sure to visit their downstairs grocery as well!

-Next stop on the tour takes you back East up 125th to Sandpoint way. Take the first left you can on 123rd, and then left again on 42nd. Ride this curvy path North for a mile to enjoy a micro vacation in the city. Be sure to look out for the life size giraffe and the secret beach along the way!

-Last things last! Time for dinner! Make your way back to downtown Lake City and ride West up 125th. This is the hill our friend Alex H swore he’d never ride up again. This was at least 4 times ago. Once you get to the top of the hill at 15th you’re officially in Pinehurst. In your preparations, make sure to arrive with food in mind. Take your pick from the litany of lovely restaurants from Zylberschtein’s Deli, to El Parche Colombian food, to Jebena and Enat for Ethiopian, or Loxicha food truck for their Mole!
