Gear Garage

Let’s face it, ya’ll: Not everyone has equitable access to the outdoors. Bikes, gear, and time off are incredibly costly for most folks who work an hourly job or are between gigs. We can’t solve most of these barriers, but I’m excited to announce that we’re currently working to create a gear garage focused on giving more people the opportunity and skills to go on bike packing trips! Our goal is to create a low-cost option for people that would not otherwise have the equipment to go bike packing. There will be a fee (still TBD) to help offset labor and repair costs for gear maintenance, but the objective is to keep this program as affordable as possible for the folks that need it most.

This summer we’ll have a set of 5 complete gear kits that people can rent for up to one week. The kits will include everything you need to go bike packing (bike bags, tents, camp stoves, etc.). With each kit rental we will provide a class that focuses on route planning, roadside maintenance, and basic camping skills. I bet you're thinking, “Sweet! How can I help?”. Well, since you asked so kindly, we really need donations. We’re looking for clean gear that is in usable condition. This means gently used gear that is not broken or on the verge of breaking, has all of its necessary components, and does not require complicated instructions to use. Each month we’ll be putting the call-out for different types of gear. Below is the first list of things that you can donate! Feel free to bring donations to the shop Tues-Fri 10:30-6 or Saturday 10:30-4.

-Sleeping bags (Max warmth of 35 degree bags)

-Sleeping pads

-1 and 2-person tents

-Dry bags
