When Can I Rent A Saddle?
The saddle library is open Thursdays 10:30-5:30 and Saturdays 10:30-3:30. Due to the popularity of the program, we are unable to accommodate walk-in saddle swaps any other days. When you sign up you’ll either be on a “Wednesday” rotation or a “Saturday” rotation, and we’ll need you to stick to those days, even if you have all the information you need about the saddle earlier than your scheduled return date.

What Saddles Do You Carry?
We carry:
-Specialized Power Comp and Power Mimic in all widths
-Specialized Bridge Mimic in all widths
-Brooks Cambium C-17 in cutout and non-cutout versions
-Ergon SMC in small/medium and medium/large
-Terry Butterfly and Terry Fly
If it isn’t on the list, we don’t carry it

Step 1: Deposit
We require a $20 deposit upfront for all saddle rentals. The $20 is non-refundable, but if you purchase one of the saddles we carry in the library that $20 will go towards your purchase. This is a service, and that fee ensures that even if you don’t purchase a saddle from us our time, expertise and rental costs are still covered. By joining the Saddle Library you agree to the potential risk of losing $20. Our goal, however, is to drastically increase the chance that you’ll find the right saddle without having to fork out $140 each time.
-
What Saddle Should I Start With?
When you sign up for the library, we’ll have a brief chat about issues you’re experiencing with your current saddle. All of our staff members are comfortable asking questions like, “Do you have sit-bone pain or soft tissue pain?”. The answers to these questions will guide our saddle recommendations. We don’t delineate saddles by sex or gender, but will discuss attributes in terms of nose length, firmness, shape and cutout.
-
How Long Can I Keep It?
You can keep each saddle for up to a week. We charge an extra 5 dollars each business day that the saddle is late beyond the agreed-upon return date. This fee does not go towards your deposit for the purchase of the saddle. If the saddle comes back severely damaged (torn, bent or cracked rails) you will owe the full price of the saddle. We’re happy to make a one-time late accommodation for an unexpected sickness or scheduling conflict if you notify us in advance, but the system only works as well as we can reliably have saddles on hand. We need our saddles to come back on time and in good condition to keep our program rolling!
-
Can You Install It For Me?
Absolutely! As part of the service we are happy to install 1 saddle per week, and will make small adjustments to get the position/angle set up correctly. We do not have the time or capacity to swap out multiple saddles per session.
-
I Want To Try A Specific Saddle
Many folks come in with specific recommendations from their bike fitters or from a friend. We’re happy to get you on a saddle that you’re excited about. Please note that, just like a book library, sometimes things are checked out. In this case, we will add you to the waitlist and contact you when the saddle is back in stock.
-
What Happens To My Old Saddle?
We’ll hold onto your old saddle here at the shop. There may be gap weeks when the next saddle you want to try is unavailable, and we’ll need to re-install your old saddle in the meantime. Once you find the saddle of your dreams you can either take the old saddle with you, or we’ll donate it to Bike Works.

I Know I Need "X" Angle Exactly, And "Y" Fore/Aft, Etc. Etc.
We’ll set up the saddle on your bike to be level and are happy to take input about moving it slightly forward or slightly backwards. We’re not fitters, and we won’t be doing any bubble level adjustments or getting out a measuring tape. That’s for you and your PT to fine-tune.
